Isooctyl salicylate (also known as 2-ethylamyl salicylate) is an important chemical product, the appearance of colorless to light yellow transparent liquid, slightly aromatic smell, UVB(Chinese: Outdoor ultraviolet (UV) has absorption, widely used in perfume, soap, sunscreen cosmetics, pharmaceutical industry, can also be used as organic solvents and organic synthesis intermediates, at present China mainly relies on imports. In the first step of preparation, isoctyl alcohol solution with purity of 70%-99.9% was added to methyl salicylate solution with purity of 70%-99.9%, and the molar ratio of methyl salicylate in methyl salicylate solution and isoctyl alcohol in isoctyl alcohol solution was 1:1 to 1:3, stirring for 1 to 3 hours to form a evenly mixed raw material solution. As a preference, in the first stage, the molar ratio of methyl salicylate in methyl salicylate solution to isooctanol in isooctanol solution is 1:2. The second step is to add a solid inorganic alkali catalyst to the raw material solution prepared in the first step, and the quality of the inorganic alkali catalyst is 0.2% - 1.0% of the mass of the raw material solution to form a reaction solution. In the second step, the inorganic base catalyst is sodium hydroxide (NaOH) or potassium hydroxide (KOH). As a preferred option, the mass of the inorganic base catalyst is 0.5% of the total mass of the raw material solution.
